12 weeks (from thebump.com)

This is from thebump.com about 12 weeks.  I love reading my weekly updates about how the baby is growing!  I can’t believe I’m FINALLY 12 weeks, this is exciting.  I am excited to start the 2nd trimester soon!  -Katy

Things are changing fast. You’re reaching the home stretch of the first trimester (we know, finally!) at 12 weeks which means your hormones are likely to tone things down a bit — which might make you feel a little less emotional! And it will probably help the symptoms subside a bit, too. One warning though: your morning sickness and fatigue might get replaced by headaches and dizziness. But we think that’s a reasonable trade-off. The other big change? Baby’s almost done developing her body’s important systems and parts, which means, it’s mostly about getting bigger and more mature from here on out. Around week 12, you might want to know more about baby, so you’re probably having genetic testing done to determine her risk of birth defects or other problems. This can be a little scary — and confusing — so be sure to ask your OB plenty of questions, and know that it’s much more likely baby’s A-OK than anything else.
your baby’s the size of a plum!
The average fetus at 12 weeks is about 2.1 inches long and .49 ounces. Now that she’s got pretty much all her parts, her main job is to keep on growing.

your baby at 12 weeks
  • Most of her critical systems are fully formed!
  • She’s about to enter the growth and maturation stage, in which her organs and tissues will grow and develop rapidly.
  • She’s now developing her reflexes — if you poke her body, she’ll likely move.
  • She’s opening and closing her fingers and curling her toes, too.
  • Her brain is developing fast!

PREGNANCY WEEK 12

My age: 27

How far along: 12 weeks

How big is baby: the size of a plum

Exercise/Activity Level: This week I got in a solid 3 days of running and weight lifting.  I felt pretty good!  My goal for this upcoming week is 5 solid days!  The more I exercise and eat healthy, the better I feel.

Maternity clothes: My pants officially won’t button.  I have a pair of jeggings I’ve worn all weekend…lol.  Not quite ready for maternity clothes, but ready for a little extra room in my waist.

Stretch marks: None.

Belly button: Innie.

Sleep: I think I’m used to my bad sleep cycle.  It’s annoying, but I’m kind of used to it.

Best moment of the week: Feeling more energized lately has felt great!

Food cravings: Cheerios and grapes.

Food aversions: Chicken.

Symptoms: My symptoms are vanishing!  I still and a bit tired and my sleep is broken at night.

Movement: None.

Gender: Unknown.

What I’m looking forward to: This week’s doctor appointment we will be able to hear the heart beat!

What I’m nervous about: Nothing right now.

What I miss: Fitting my clothes.  But that’s not gonna happen for a good 6-7 months!

BUMP REPORT – Week 11

Limes

PREGNANCY WEEK 11

My age: 27

How far along: 11 weeks

How big is baby: the size of a lime

Exercise/Activity Level: We traveled to Las Vegas this past week, so my working out was more limited.  I worked out for 3 days before the trip.  While in Vegas, Eric checked his pedometer and we walked like 6 miles the first day (between a 2.5 mile walk and then walking on the Las Vegas strip).  So I guess we got a fair share of exercise still!

Maternity clothes: I wear my belly band every other day or so.  My pants are definitely squeezing around my waist.

Stretch marks: None.

Belly button: Innie.

Sleep: I’m just used to my poor sleep these days.  I also have many vivid dreams that inhibit my sleep too.

Best moment of the week: Reading all kinds of memories about my grandma.  She died last week and everyone has been sharing her memories.

Food cravings: Cheerios.

Food aversions: Chicken.

Symptoms: Still tired.  Traveling has been exhausting between Indiana and Las Vegas trips recently.  I sleep as much as possible.  My nausea is pretty much gone, although I had a few waves over the weekend again:(

Movement: None.

Gender: Unknown.

What I’m looking forward to: Getting to the second trimester!

What I’m nervous about: Nothing right now.

What I miss: Feeling more energy.

Next appointment: Friday, March 29th.

BUMP REPORT – Week 10

kumkwat

PREGNANCY WEEK 10

My age: 27 (just celebrated my birthday over the weekend!)

How far along: 10 weeks

How big is baby: the size of a kumkwat (just like a little clementine)

Exercise/Activity Level: This week I exercised 4 days, which included two days of running outside.  It’s so beautiful to be outside in nature and breathe in fresh air.  The sun on my skin feel amazing too.  I think I’m going to try to make outdoor running a regular thing again.  The weather seems to be making an entrance to spring.

Maternity clothes: I was given a Belly Band this week by a good friend.  I actually did wear it a couple of days over my regular pants.  My pants are getting just a bit snug around the waist.

Stretch marks: None.

Belly button: Innie. I also actually took my belly button ring out.  I decided it was just time.

Sleep: More of the same.  I wake up every night to go to the bathroom.  Also I just lie there wide awake at 2am.

Best moment of the week: Seeing our baby on the 9 week ultrasound.   The baby actually LOOKS like a baby now!  I could see head, body, legs, arms and a beating heart!

Food cravings: Nothing in particular.  Trying to eat healthier since I don’t want to gain weight too quickly.

Food aversions: Chicken.

Symptoms: My nausea is almost 100% gone now.  Thank the Lord!  I’m still tired and take a lot of opportunities to lie down.  This week I’ve felt growing/stretching in my utererus.

Movement: None.

Gender: Unknown.

What I’m looking forward to: This week we will travel to Vegas to share our good news with Eric’s family.

What I’m nervous about: Nothing right now.

What I miss: My grandma.  Grandma Annie Jane passed away unexpectedly on Saturday.  It’s been a rough weekend because of that, but I know that she is with Jesus in Heaven now.  I know she is so happy and at peace.  I just miss her.

Next appointment: Friday, March 29th.  We will have a regular ob checkup and hear the heartbeat on the fetal dopler!
