BUMP REPORT – 25 Weeks

ImagePREGNANCY WEEK 25

My age: 27

How far along: 25 weeks

How big is baby: the size of an eggplant.  She is 13.5 inches long and weighs 1.5 pounds.

Exercise/Activity Level: I exercised 6 days this week: 3 days running and 3 days of weights and cardio.  One of my runs was I just had to laugh…I had to go pee SO BAD during the run and every step I took made the situation worse!  I was still about a mile an a half away from home when I nearly asked a swimming pool if I could use their restroom.  I decided I would just deal with it rather than embarrassing myself.  I ran the rest of the way praying that I didn’t pee my pants, haha!  That was such a miserable run:)

Maternity clothes:  I am SO EXCITED that my friend brought over a bin of maternity clothes for me the other day!!!  I am 100% set on clothes for the rest of this pregnancy now.  I’m so thrilled to have so many new things to start wearing.

Stretch marks: None.

Belly button: Pretty flat these days.  Only a matter of time until the flat belly button starts poking out.

Sleep: My sleep is pretty good.  Whenever I want to shift from one side to the other, I feel like I have to build up momentum just to get my body to flip over!

Newest baby milestones this week: I read on my pregnancy app that baby’s nostrils have been plugged up until this point.  Now they are opened up (like she took a dose of Sudafed!) and she is practicing breathing in and out through her nose.  She is also forming her capillaries, which give her skin more of pink glow.

Best Moment of the Week:  My best moment this week was getting to SLEEP IN!  We were both so exhausted from our week that on both Saturday and Sunday we slept till 10:00 a.m.  I am pretty sure that means we were in desperate need of sleep.

Worst Moment of the Week: Having someone tell me how “chunky” my cheeks have gotten.  Thanks 🙂  Really appreciated that one.  Just learning to roll with the punches.

Food cravings: Orange pop, fruit, Milk Duds, yogurt and sherbet.

Food aversions: Chicken.

Symptoms: Quickly growing belly, extreme soreness in my ab muscles/rib cage area, mild heartburn that comes and goes, feeling “uncomfortable” a lot, occasional low back pain from sitting and mild swelling on hot days.

Movement: Lots and lots of movement.

Gender: Girl

What I’m looking forward to: I’m looking forward to my work baby shower this week.  I wasn’t expecting to have so many showers, but I’m really excited to get to celebrate with the gals from work.

What I’m nervous about/praying for: My stress level.  I have been super stressed out lately due to work and feeling like I’ve got way too much on my plate. I’m praying for my sanity.

What I miss: Feeling comfortable.

Next appointment: Tuesday, July 16.

  1. Gorgeous dress! I can SO relate to the running and having to pee. I do a 5 mile loop in the mornings and I have to have a “pee stop” halfway or I won’t make it home. I have literally done this exact run since before I found out I was pregnant and have no intention of changing it for the reason you laughed about above…So proud of you for continuing to run! I am SO happy I am still able to, but it is getting seriously hot here. 111 degrees on Friday!

Also, your cheeks don’t look chubby! You are absolutely gorgeous!

    • Thanks Carin! That’s amazing that you are still running a 5 mile loop!!! (and I love that you have a built in pee stop….out of curiosity, is it a store/business or is it wide out in the great outdoors??) Wow! My typical running loop is only 3 miles, and I typically am taking periodic walking breaks where I probably run 2-2.5 of the 3 miles. I thought that was pretty good, but girl—you are awesome!! Especially with that scorching heat you have. Our temps have been in the mid 90’s lately, so I have to make sure my run is early in the morning or it has to wait until after 8pm. I ran the other day at noon and that was a dumb idea. 🙂

And thanks–I don’t think my cheeks are chubby, but it’s just amazing the things that come freely out of people’s mouths. I try to take into consideration who is saying it. I really felt like saying back to this person “Wow, your cheeks and whole body look pretty chunky too, we can be twins now that I caught up to you.” But of course I would NEVER DARE say something like that to anyone. My actual response to her was pretty polite, “Oh really? Must be one of my pregnancy symptoms.”

      • I walk a bit of my 5 mile loop too. Some days more than others. Oh, and for my pee stop? It is definitely in the woods on the trail I run on. Luckily I have never seen another person on it when I am on it in the early AM…but who knows if someday it will happen! I grew up camping, so this really isn’t that big of a deal to me.

You are so polite! I get really annoyed when people say things to me like that. Do they not know how many changed we are already dealing with emotionally and physically? People are unbelievable!
        xo

      • Good to know you take occasional walking breaks too:) So you ARE human!! Haha, I’m always just super impressed with your athleticism.

I love that you go all natural for your pee stop! I would like to say I would do that too, but my runs are usually in pretty public areas where I see other walkers, runners, bikers….too risky for me to chance one of them seeing all my goods:) If I ran on more remote trails, I’d follow your lead!

Yes, people truly are unbelievable!! There are the Negative Nancy’s and then there are also the Uplifting Ursela’s too. Unfortunately the Negative Nancy’s are quicker to open their mouth:)

  2. I am so impressed with how active you are! I had just become active before becoming pregnant and have now lost 25lbs since January. I scared myself into a hault because I am not a very active person to begin with and we tried for 2 years to get pregnant. Just couldn’t stand to have something happen if I pushed myself too hard. Anyways, I am slowly easing myself back into the gym routine, even if it is just some weights and a walk on the treadmill. Better than nothing! I don’t do well outside because of the heat and elevation (I’m from Seattle). What part of Colorado are you in? We are in Monument.

    • I completely understand your hesitation! If I had tried to get pregnant for 2 years, my approach on things might be a little different too. That’s good that you are slowly easing into small bouts of exercise. Walking and resistance training will only be good for you and baby as long as your doc is giving you the green light. I wouldn’t jump into anything brand new or strenuous pregnant. Now isn’t the time to push yourself to the limit! Sounds like you have a great mindset on it.

I’ve always been super active. I graduated college with a BA in Health and Fitness and then worked as a personal trainer for 3 years post college. Now I’m out of the fitness industry, but I LOVE staying fit and active for my personal goals, so it only makes sense for me to continue being active as a pregnant gal. My running pace and distance are a far cry from pre-pregnancy, but I’m proud to keep my body and baby healthy through exercise.

I live in Morrison! How neat that you are in Monument! I work at a chiropractic office in Centennial, so not super far from Monument (not close, but closer than Morrison). Hopefully you’ve been safe from the fires. That smoke was rough on breathing for a while even up north!

  3. First off, I’m always amazed at all the crazy things people say to you. Just wait though, the second baby is here… people reach a whole new level of ‘let me tell you my opinion’ UGH!

Also, I laughed at your story about having to pee. I go to the bathroom 100 times before I finally make it out the door to go because I had that experience once and it’s sooo painful. Glad you made it home in time 😉

Many prayers for your sanity! I know keeping calm with baby in belly is important, I just wish it was easier for us mama’s to be to do that!

    • Haha…I imagine people’s “opinions” get worse when they start telling you how to raise your child and progressively worse with multiple babies. I guess pregnancy and parenting just make us better people because of the things we have to endure:)

Yeah the whole “pregnant women pee a lot” thing….I didn’t start experiencing this until just recently in the past week or two. Ever since that run where I just about lost my bladder, I do the same—make sure I go to the bathroom immediately before walking out the door. And what’s funny is when you have to “pee SOOO bad” and only a little bit actually comes out, it makes me laugh all the more!

Thanks for the prayers for sanity! I am feeling much calmer and relaxed since my workload is finally starting to slow down a bit. Your prayers were very appreciated!
